Context

Simplot is a global leader in agribusiness and creator of the first frozen potato chips. With operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Australia, China and other Asian countries, they have more than 10,000 employees around the world who work in the growth, processing and marketing of food.
Since 1967 they have been exclusive suppliers to McDonald’s offering frozen potato chips to all their restaurant chains, ensuring the highest quality throughout the year.
In 2016 they decided to make a commercial agreement with the company San Fili SA, a benchmark in the frozen pre-fried potato industry, finding a strategic partner to settle in Argentina and develop their business in an area of 7,000 hectares located in Mendoza, characteristic for the high quality and yield of potato cultivation.

Challenge

Since its arrival in Argentina, Simplot has started a process of efficiency in its tasks, focusing on the cost dimension and accompanying the business cycles of the production, sale and distribution phases. For this reason, it needed to quickly assemble its operations in an infrastructure that had to be simple and easy to operate in order to quickly go to market.

Solution

Following the corporate guidelines in World Class technology, and with the help of a strategic partner such as BGH Tech Partner who had extensive experience in cloud services, the company decided to make the necessary infrastructure available in the AWS cloud to implement SAP S / 4 HANA.
The client acquired the Advanced service, which allows him access to a comprehensive support service, which ranges from telephone service and remote attention to the most common problems of his technological infrastructure, to monitoring and optimization of the implemented solution. In addition, certified Cloud engineers from BGH Tech Partner carry out periodic analysis of the platform, monitoring and tracking its status.

Implementation

The implementation was carried out in 3 stages with the aim of mitigating risks and minimizing the impact on the internal customer, working in alignment with the SAP consultant. The stages consisted of planning the deployment strategy and migration of the workloads, the implementation of the services, and the operation to stabilize the platform and start with the support.
